A man who was apprehended at Starbucks by police armed with weapons after reportedly making threats to harm his former partner has been put in jail.

Ryan Miller, 36, was detained in the Orton Centre coffee shop on January 12 after authorities got a 999 call saying he had a kitchen knife and planned to stab someone.

Miller visited his ex-partner’s house twice in the morning, taking her dog and then returning it later.

He then repeatedly contacted the woman and her new partner, threatening to stab them and bomb her house with petrol. phone Miller, of Peterhead Close, Orton Southgate, then showed up at her house a third time, holding a kitchen knife and kicking the door.

Unable to enter, he went to a nearby friend's house, where he confessed and they took the knife from him.

He and his friend then went to Starbucks, where armed police found and arrested him for having a knife in public and stalking.

Miller and his friend then went to Starbucks where armed police located them, apprehending Miller for carrying a knife in public and stalking.

He was sentenced to nine months in jail after admitting to having a knife in a public place during a court appearance in late March at Huntingdon Law Court.

Miller was also charged with making threats to kill, which he denied and was accepted by the court, but he was issued a 10-year restraining order preventing him from contacting his ex-partner.

DC Jon Coupland, who handled the investigation, said: 'This was understandably a frightening experience for those involved, and for the public who were present when armed police arrived at the coffee shop to detain Miller.

‘I would like to thank those who called us that day and supported our investigation. I hope the sentence will give Miller some time to think about his actions and make better choices in the future.’
