    During a football match, lightning struck the pitch and caused 18 people to be sent to the hospital

    A lightning strike At a Japanese university, 18 people were sent to the hospital, and two of them are in serious condition.

    The unusual incident happened at a field in Miyazaki City around 2.30pm, during a practice match between Hosho High and Pengsho High School. School The freak accident seemed to cause two players to go into cardiac arrest, with 16 others still in the hospital.

    A male employee of a nearby gym said, ‘Around 2:40 p.m., I heard a loud thud that sounded like something was exploding.’

    There was a thunderstorm warning in place at the time of the accident. Japan’s Meteorological Agency said there are expected to be 'unstable' atmospheric conditions in the area until tomorrow. NHKThe strange accident happened just hours after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan, causing tsunami warnings across much of Japan.

    18 of the players are being treated in the hospital (Picture: NHK) Tremors from the quake caused a small tsunami to hit southern regions, reaching the Okinawa area earlier this morning.Japanese media initially claimed the quake could cause waves as tall as three meters, prompting cabinet secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi to urge local residents to stay on high ground, but no damage was recorded and the tsunami warnings were lifted at around noon.

    However, in Taiwan, large sections of buildings have collapsed and 77 people are believed to be stranded.

    Japan’s prime minister Fumio Kishida has expressed readiness to provide any necessary assistance to Taiwan after the massive earthquake.

    At the time, the field was hosting a practice match. Japan, reaching the Okinawa region earlier this morning.
