Former Trump adviser: ‘No question’ US has strongest economy

A ex-Trump economic adviser stated on Friday that there is “no question” the United States has the most powerful economy globally after a solid February jobs report came after President Biden’s State of the Union speech.

“One thing that Biden said last night that was true: It is true that the United States today has the strongest economy. There’s no doubt about it,” mentioned Stephen Moore, a past Trump campaign economic adviser, on Fox Business Network.

Moore, a former opinion writer for The Hill, was also considered by Trump to serve on the Federal Reserve Board, but it did not progress before he was officially nominated. Various GOP senators showed hesitations about supporting Moore due to growing criticism of his contentious remarks about women. pulled out Moore’s remarks come after a year of exceptional resilience for the U.S. economy.

Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank collapsed in March 2023, causing concerns of a wider banking crisis. Several economists were predicting a downturn as the Federal Reserve continued to raise interest rates to their highest levels in over two decades in an attempt to control high inflation, which reached 9 percent in 2022.

However, inflation has since decreased to around 3 percent, the unemployment rate remains at historically low levels, and economic growth is robust as the nation and the world recover economically following the disruptions of the pandemic.

The February employment report released Friday morning exceeded expectations, showing the U.S. added 275,000 jobs and the unemployment rate rose slightly to 3.9 percent, continuing the longest period the unemployment rate has been below 4 percent since November 1969.

While a March interest rate cut is almost completely off the table for the Fed, the central bank has indicated it intends to reduce rates later this year as it aims for an unusual “soft landing” for the U.S. economy, where economic growth moderates enough to decrease inflation without causing a recession. jobs report However, Moore’s comment came with a condition: “We are the least rotten apple in the cart.”

“If you look at what’s happening in Europe today, Germany, Britain, France, if you look at Japan and China, they’re not growing,” Moore stated, moderating his statement that the U.S. had the strongest economy.

A former Trump economic adviser said Friday there is “no question” the U.S. has the strongest economy in the world after a strong February jobs report followed President Biden’s State of the Union address. “One thing that Biden said last night that was true: It is true that the United States today has the strongest…

“If you look at what’s happening in Europe today, Germany, Britain, France, if you look at Japan and China, they’re not growing,” Moore said, tempering his comment that the U.S. had the strongest economy.
