Queen Rania al Abdullah of Jordan urged the international community to use its “political influence” to pressure Israel to allow more aid into Gaza and put an end to the ongoing war.
On CBS News’s “Face the Nation,” Queen Rania discussed President Biden's warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about potential changes in U.S. policy if Israel's tactics didn’t change. She was asked if she thinks the U.S. is beginning to use its influence.
“There has definitely been a change in tone and language. The President has been warning and making great efforts to persuade Netanyahu not to enter Rafah. Israeli officials have repeatedly ignored the warnings and advice of allies,” she said.
“So, it’s time for the international community, including the U.S., to use their political influence to push Israel to end the war and allow aid in,” she continued.
In recent weeks, Israel has increased the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza, but global leaders still insist more aid is necessary to prevent famine in the strip.
Queen Rania’s remarks also come amid discussions about a cease-fire, as Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other U.S. officials have been pressing Hamas officials to agree to a cease-fire.
