Bethesda is focusing on The Elder Scrolls 6 rather than Fallout 5 at the moment

Todd Howard has talked about the progress of different projects at Bethesda Game Studios, and also assured some ‘very good updates’ for Starfield.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was revealed in 2018, but there has been limited information about the project until very recently.

Bethesda confirmed last month that the much-anticipated sequel to Skyrim is is in an early playable stage, indicating that progress is picking up. Although they’re also in the early stages of developing Fallout 5, it’s not expected to release until after Elder Scrolls 6, which doesn’t have a release date yet. The success of the Fallout TV show, which led toan increase in sales

for Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, could have caused a change in priorities at the studio, but executive producer Todd Howard confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still the main focus. ‘I’m not going to give specific dates for anything,’ Howard said when asked if the plans for Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 could change due to interest in the show. ‘I’ve learned that the hard way. So right now, our primary focus for new development is Elder Scrolls 6, but that doesn’t mean we’re not making plans for other things.’

, he added: ‘We’re still putting a lot of effort into Fallout 76, and we see the community, many people, joining that game and rediscovering it, and they’re very pleased with its current state. It truly has one of the best communities in all of gaming.

It’s surprisingly a very pleasant apocalypse, and we’re also working a lot on Starfield. So, we have some really good updates that will be announced soon for that game. So, there’s a lot going on here.’

Speaking to IGNBethesda has previously announced the first DLC for, named Shattered Space, will be released in 2024. It’s likely we’ll hear more about the DLC at the Xbox Showcase in June, which was

confirmed by Microsoft Starfieldearlier this year. We might also get an update on The Elder Scrolls 6 there, but since Microsoft previously stated it won’t be released until 2028, it’s possible that it will be kept away from the public eye for a while. It’s also not clear if it will be exclusive to Xbox, as the company hasmoved towards a strategy of releasing games on multiple platforms in recent months.

With so many projects in the distant future, Bethesda may be hoping to capitalize on the positive reception of the Fallout TV show for a while – especially since a second season has already been confirmed. Todd Howard has talked about the progress of various projects at Bethesda Game Studios, and also promised some ‘very good updates’ for Starfield.

With so many projects on the far horizon, Bethesda is perhaps hoping to ride the positive buzz around the Fallout TV show for some time – with a second season already confirmed to be in the works.
