A Jet2 flight The flight from Leeds Bradford Airport to the Canary Islands landed after a 'general emergency' was reported soon after it took off.
The plane left around 9am today and landed at the East Midlands Airport a few minutes later.
Simon Hinchley, Operations Director at East Midlands Airport, said: 'A flight had to make an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport this morning, and this was handled according to our emergency procedures.
‘Efforts are being made to ensure the affected passengers can continue their journey as soon as possible.
‘The plane landed safely, and passengers will be moved to a standby aircraft and flown to their destination.’
