Robert Pires states that he wants to witness PSG and France superstar Kylian Mbappe joining Liverpool this summer instead of Real Madrid.
Mbappe has apparently agreeing to join the Spanish giants at the end of the season, after informing PSG about his wish to leave earlier this year.
The 25-year-old has had significant success individually and as part of a team since he joined PSG in 2017. He has won five Ligue 1 titles and has become the top scorer in the club's history with 244 goals.
Mbappe He helped France secure the World Cup in 2018 and nearly led the team to a consecutive victory, with Didier Deschamps' squad losing to Argentina in a penalty shootout in the 2022 final, despite Mbappe's hat-trick.
The French forward is on the brink of joining a Real Madrid team that is currently eight points ahead in La Liga and still has ambitions of winning the Champions League, as they face a quarter-final against Manchester City.
Pires also disclosed that he was close to joining Real Madrid during his playing days but opted for Arsenal instead, a team with which he won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups.
'I'm sorry, Kylian, but you weren't the first player to say no to Real Madrid,' Pires told AS. 'I don't know what decision he will make in the end, but I turned Madrid down because I had two other options.
'I'm sure that if I didn't have the opportunity to go to Arsenal or Juventus, I would have gone to Real Madrid. That's for sure.'
Pires continued to mention that he would be pleased to see his fellow countryman signing for Liverpool, where he could team up with Anfield favorite Mohamed Salah.
'I would like to see him at Liverpool,' the former France star added. 'It's a great family club, with a good structure, no pressure, and level-headed fans.
'And I think a Salah-Mbappe partnership could be really explosive. I think he is capable of rejecting Real Madrid.'
Mbappe is having an outstanding season for both his club and country, scoring 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.
It's just a matter of time before PSG secures yet another Ligue 1 title, and the French giants are also aiming for their first Champions League victory as they face a quarter-final match against Barcelona.
