A minimum of 27 individuals died and many others were severely injured in a massive fire at a nightclub in Turkey.
Flames engulfed the 16-floor building on Yıldız Posta Street in central Istanbul, on the European side of the city divided by the Bosphorus.
The fire occurred during daytime repair work, as stated by mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on Tuesday.
It started on the second floor of the tall building where the nightclub was located, and spread upwards.

The initial count of individuals killed in the incident was 15, but it was later revised to 25 and then 27.
Information indicates at least eight people have been quickly taken to the hospital, with seven of them in critical condition.
Several fire departments were dispatched to the location in the Besiktas district where the fire was burning.
Authorities detained five individuals for questioning, including managers of the club and one person in charge of the renovations.
Governor Davut Gul informed reporters that the cause was being investigated, and the victims were believed to be involved in the renovation work.
He stated: 'Treatment of our wounded are continuing in hospitals. All our friends are here. Our condolences to all of us.'
