Thanks to a rescue team, a dog is now safe at home with its owner after being lifted out of a 50ft ravine.
The pet tumbled into the ravine while walking near the picturesque Aber Falls in Rhaedr Fawr, Snowdonia National Park.
Its devastated owner reached the dog below but couldn’t get the pet out – so the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation were called in.
After a brief search, the dog and its owner were located and rescue members descended on ropes.
The dog was then raised to safety, with a rescue team spokesperson stating that it was ‘bruised but okay’.
The pair were then guided back up to a path before being helped back down to the main track.
The rescue organisation said on its website: ‘A dog owner called seeking help to rescue their dog from a ravine at Aber falls.
‘Local team members deployed directly with further troops taking technical rescue equipment from base.
‘The owner and dog were located in very steep ground and assisted back up to the path before being helped back down to the main track.’
In 2022, a Yorkshire rescue team took three hours to rescue a dog who fell down a separate 50ft ravine while chasing a squirrel.
Patterdale terrier Roxy was distracted by the animal while on a walk in Pickering, North Yorkshire, and tumbled down the steep hill.
A team member from Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue was lowered into the ravine on a rope, and grabbed Roxy.
She was given lots of attention by the team, with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue saying it was a ‘happy story’ with both dog and owner being found safe.
