Australian Idol judge Marcia Hines was unable to participate in the live show just hours before filming, reportedly due to hitting her head.

The 70-year-old is believed to have gotten the injury after collapsing in her dressing room on Sunday and was quickly taken to the hospital.

On Instagram, Marcia apologized for missing the show and mentioned she had been 'unwell.'

She wrote: 'I'm very sorry that I'm not there with you all tonight. It's been a busy few days of work and I was feeling a little unwell.

'I'm resting up now so I can be back with you all tomorrow night.'

Marcia is currently in a 'stable condition' and the fall was likely due to her diabetes, as per the Daily Mail Australia.

The publication also claims that Marcia, who started out in musical theatre and later launched a pop career, was set to perform on the show.

Australian Idol presenter Ricki-Lee Coulter informed viewers that Hines would be absent at the start of Sunday's episode.

'You will have noticed that we are missing someone very important and very special to the Idol family. Unfortunately Marcia is unwell and unable to join us tonight,' she said.

Kyle added: 'Sorry, sorry. That's a real downplay. She was taken out of here in an ambulance.

'Just so that everyone knows. She's fine. She's well. But she didn't just call with a headache. She went down.'

Marcia, who is a judge alongside Amy Shark and Kyle Sandilands, was replaced by season one Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian.

The singer was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in her 30s after collapsing on her kitchen floor in the mid-1980s.

Type 1 diabetes – also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes – is an autoimmune condition that occurs when the body mistakenly attacks the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.

As a result, it can no longer produce insulin – the hormone that helps the body to convert glucose into energy – leading to high blood sugar levels.

Discussing her diabetes before, Marcia said: 'Before I was diagnosed as a diabetic, I ate terribly, I skipped meals — mightn't eat for a day or so — and I can't really do that anymore.' Wyza'At the end of the day, you can't expect anyone to take care of you, you've got to take care of yourself. I'm not talking about running marathons, because I've never run one, but I'm talking about… if it's a nice day, go for a walk, and then when you go home, put some music on and have a dance around the house,' Marcia added.
