Roy Keane He heavily criticized Burnley's performances, calling Vincent Kompany's side 'dreadful, embarrassing and shocking' this season.
It has been a tough return to the Premier League for the Clarets. Premier League for the Clarets, as they've only earned 13 points from their first 26 matches, securing three wins.
Struggling at both ends of the pitch, they have scored 25 goals and conceded 58 in 26 outings, making their survival hopes bleak with 12 matches remaining.
On Sunday, Burnley have a chance to improve their chances of avoiding relegation when they play Bournemouth at Turf Moor, but Keane had some harsh criticism for them before the match.
Keane expressed his disappointment on Sky Sports, saying, 'They've been dreadful. We talk about teams having a style of play in the Championship and trying to compare it to the Premiership, it's completely different. It's impossible.'
He added, 'They appear weak physically. The goals they're conceding are basic mistakes. They conceded a goal against Arsenal last week that you wouldn't even expect to see on a Sunday morning.'
Keane also mentioned, 'I respect managers who have a philosophy and style of play, but you need to adapt. They have not been good enough, and it's embarrassing how things have been going for them.'
Keane commented on their chances, 'While there's always a possibility of winning a football match, the team's statistics are quite embarrassing. So the manager and the staff need to make changes.'
He emphasized the importance of strong defense and goal-scoring, highlighting the struggles of teams at the bottom of the table like Sheffield United and Luton.
Keane particularly expressed disappointment in former world-class defender Kompany's inability to organize the team's defense or set them up to be solid underdogs.
The Manchester United legend added, 'I think we've been too lenient on some of the teams at the bottom. For instance, Kompany, a superb center-back, must be aware of his team's defensive vulnerabilities and they need to do better. They need to give themselves a chance to win football matches.'
He further criticized, 'At this moment, they've been shocking.'
Keane is disappointed with Burnley's poor performances.
