Mary Trump thinks that despite the seriousness of her uncle's situation, it might not be sufficient to hold him accountable

Mary Trump, who is a former President Trump's niece, has expressed uncertainty about her uncle's potential conviction, indicating that there is always an escape route for him as his criminal hush money trial goes on in New York.

Mary mentioned on MSNBC that the contrast we should focus on is between Donald Trump, the Republican Party's presidential candidate, and Donald Trump, someone who wants to be an anti-American authoritarian.

She pointed out the issue of treating him as two completely different individuals, without acknowledging the impact of his alleged criminal actions on his standing as a presidential candidate.

She also expressed concern that despite the severity of his troubles, there always seems to be a way out for him, with someone ready to help him, even when it seems impossible for him to escape. And she worries that it may not be enough to hold him accountable.

Trump was in court in Manhattan on Thursday to face 34 counts of falsifying business records, focusing on a hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels by his ex-fixer and former attorney Michael Cohen to keep quiet about an alleged affair.

The trial heard testimony from David Pecker, the former National Enquirer publisher who reportedly acted as the 'eyes and ears' for Trump's 2016 campaign before delving deeper into the documentation related to the charges. The focus this week is on the paperwork behind the charges.

When asked by MSNBC about her feelings seeing her uncle face 'accountability,' Trump's niece said she does not want to get too hopeful as the trial is still in its early stages.

She argued that Trump has become capable of making outrageous and egregious actions seem normal, and of making bold statements without facing any real consequences.

She also mentioned that this pattern has been ongoing for decades, explaining that Donald is skilled at pushing boundaries and retracting only when faced with resistance. However, he often pushes further to test the limits.

In the past few months, Mary has been a strong critic of her uncle and authored a book titled 'Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man.'
