Elizabeth Hurley has stated that people are making a big deal about her son, Damian, directing her in a sex scene.

The Austin Powers star, 58, landed a role in the 21-year-old’s directorial debut, Strictly Confidential – which is set to be released on April 5.

In the erotic thriller, she starred as wealthy mother Lily, whose daughter drowns near their family home.

The following year, her friends gather again at the beachside property where one of the youngster’s pals, Natasha (Pear Chiravara), seduces Lily.

However, the casting raised eyebrows after it emerged that Damian – who Elizabeth shares with businessman Steve Bing – was behind the camera for the steamy scenes, with fans left outraged over the decision.

Addressing the reaction, the Hollywood icon revealed that she was unbothered as there were many ‘factors’ in why that particular moment got people talking.

‘People are making a lot of fuss,’ she insisted in a new interview. ‘I think there’s a lot of factors making it a particularly interesting scene for people.’

Unpacking what those might be, she noted to People Magazine that there is an age-gap with her 28-year-old co-star, Pear.

‘The fact that I’m doing it, and I’ve never really done a scene like that before,’ she suggested.

However, Elizabeth vowed that there are some scenes that can be seen as ‘daring’, but she wanted to dispel the notion of ‘nudity’ and exploitation.

She added: ‘There actually isn’t any nudity. Nobody’s exploited at all. We all felt comfortable doing it.’

Strictly Confidential is released in select cinemas and on streaming platforms on April 5, but a lot has already been said about the thriller.

Many were up in arms after learning of Damian directing Elizabeth’s the sex scene, with some branding it ‘weird’ and ‘uncomfortable’.

Spilling the beans on the footage, the Gossip Girl favorite explained that she actually felt ‘looked after’ with her child behind the camera – and would consider working with him once more.

‘The things that his script needed me to do weren’t necessarily things I’d always done in movies many times,’ she told Access.

‘But having him there meant that I felt safe and looked after, and I knew in (post-production) he’d look after me.

‘So, actually, it’s kind of liberating to work with your family. I may do it again.’

Strictly Confidential is released on April 5.
