Actress Zoe Saldana revealed she and her husband Marco Perego have a secret code word when talking about sex when their kids are around.
The star, 45 known for her roles in Avatar and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, is mum to three children with director husband Marco, 44.
It means the couple have to be careful with what they say when the little ones are around.
Marco has found a way around this, the Hollywood star revealed in a new interview on the Drew Barrymore show — a code word for when they want to talk about activities in the bedroom.
However it’s not exactly subtle, and the older children have caught on.
She told presenter and actress Drew Marco had ‘found a way to call sexy time “playing Legos naked”.’
‘The boys, at least our older ones, caught on. And they were like “Are you guys kissing? Are you guys gonna go play naked with your legos?”,’ she laughed.
‘And we’re like, “no, we’re not going to do that”.’
The couple have been married for over 10 years, tying the knot in the summer of 2013 and expanding their family soon after.
Together they are parents to three sons: twins Bowie and Cy, nine, and seven-year-old Zen.
Presenter Drew loved Zoe’s story, calling it the ‘cutest thing ever’ and asking ‘imagine what that’s like … to grow up in that kind of love. That’s so wonderful.’
Zoe spoke to Deadline in 2023 about the difficulties of that comes with acting in franchise films while raising a family, saying she felt it was ‘hard for me to sustain both worlds and also then to cater to this curiosity of playing other different characters of playing earthlings.’
The actress, who plays extraterrestrial beings in both the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avatar franchises, added however, ‘I’m happy in space.’
That said, there was a famously long gap between the first Avatar movie — released in 2009 — and its sequel, which hit cinemas last year, 13 years later.
Director James Cameron is still determined to make five films, despite Disney announcing the third instalment is being pushed back by a year — and Avatar 5 won’t arrive until 2031.
Zoe reacted to the news with a post on Instagram, where she wrote sarcastically: ‘Great! I’m gonna be 53 when the last Avatar comes out.’
To put this into perspective, she added: ‘I was 27 when I shot the very first Avatar.’
In the gap between the first and second Avatar film, Zoe met her husband, married him and had three children.
