Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall has confessed to feeling less than perfect following knee surgery last year.

Best recognized for his portrayal of Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV on the soap since 1998, he recently broke up with his co-star girlfriend Tish Merry, who portrayed Steph Britton.

They met on set in 2014 and began dating in 2019 when she departed from her role.

The split happened shortly after he had an operation to repair an ACL injury.

The ACL, or anterior cruciate ligament, runs through the middle of the knee and links the thighbone to the shinbone to stabilize the joint.

It can be injured in various ways, usually by suddenly stopping or changing momentum when running or cycling.

At that time, he posted a picture of himself in bed with his leg elevated, mentioning that the surgery was performed on his leg and would necessitate nine to twelve months of rehabilitation.

To accommodate his surgery, Tyrone was written out of the show to go on vacation with wife Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), but Alan has since returned to filming.

Last weekend, he seemed eager to go out and about again with his 10-year-old daughter Sienna, whom he has with ex-wife Lucy-Jo Hudson who also used to appear in Corrie as Katy Harris.

Sharing on Instagram stories, he posted a picture of them both to his 235,000 followers.

‘I can’t say I’m feeling 100% but after the last several months of rain I really wanted Sienna to be outdoors and have some adventures this [bank] holiday’ he added.

    ‘…and we have!’

He also shared a series of photos from the weekend, and captioned it: ‘My smile is biggest when I’m with my daughter.’

‘A bank holiday weekend well spent, outdoors and having fun with our family.’

The pictures were well received by co-stars Georgia Taylor and Samia Longchambon, who both liked the post, as well as by fans who expressed their support.

‘Alan you’re a dream dad. [I] hope your knee is ok hun, love the crazy nurse’ commented one follower, who appeared to be one of the medical professionals that helped him following surgery.

‘You are an absolute credit to her. Just from your pictures you can see how much you love your daughter – the bond you have is beautiful’ commented another.
