Football fans were delighted to see Liverpool star Darwin Nunez giving his shirt to a ball boy instead of a supporter holding a sign asking for it on Sunday.
The Reds won against Brighton 2-1 at Anfield this weekend, this result helped them reach the top of the Premier League table after Arsenal tied 0-0 with Manchester City.
Nunez became popular after the match as pictures showed him looking at a sign in the crowd that said: 'Nunez, can I have your jersey?’
After seeing the sign, Nunez seemed to ignore the request and instead gave his shirt to a Liverpool ball boy, which amused some supporters.
‘Hahaha looks at him straight in the eyes whilst he’s doing it,’ Liverpool fan @Rory_Bond posted on X. ‘What a fella. Make him club captain.’
‘People begging for shirts to be let down just ruins the whole experience of the game,’ @mainstand1598 said, while @colr81 added: ‘Ban these ridiculous signs.’
In the meantime, some fans noted that Nunez may not have understood the sign because he does not have a strong command of the English language yet.
Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was very happy after his team’s victory over Brighton and said: ‘Playing wise it was really good.
‘Brighton have incredible quality. That is the measure I have for how good we were today because I really respect them. They had chances, they took more risks all of a sudden and we got slightly tired.
‘We deserved to win the game. That is what you want and then on top of that it is really cool.’
Manchester United legend and pundit Roy Keane also showered praise on Klopp’s men.
‘He is a clever footballer (Alexis Mac Allister), I’ll tell you that – I’m usually impressed with him and his decision making,’ Keane told Sky Sports.
‘And again, like anything else when you just speed things up in the final third. He gets it here, the execution, the weight of the pass, the first touch from Mohamed Salah – beautiful.
‘Exciting football for me, this, love watching it.’
