Joseph Parker has called out Dillian Whyte using Take That’s 1995 hit ‘Back for Good’.
The 32-year-old experienced an intense bout with Whyte at the O2 Arena in 2018 in only his second loss after being defeated by Anthony Joshua earlier that year.
Parker is currently the mandatory challenger for the WBO heavyweight title following his victory over Zhilei Zhang in Saudi Arabia last month.
A rematch clause was part of the agreement with Zhang, but he is likely to face Deontay Wilder instead, leaving Parker in search of a new opponent.
The Kiwi now aims to seek revenge for his defeat against Whyte and has shared a fantastic video of himself and his team lip-syncing to Take That’s song ‘Back for Good’, while clips from their initial fight six years ago are shown in the background.
Whyte is also seeking his next challenger following his win over Christian Hammer on March 17.
The 35-year-old had been absent from the ring since November 2022 due to an ‘adverse analytical findings’ from a VADA drugs test last year.
Whyte was given permission to return to the ring last month after an investigation found that his positive drugs test was due to a contaminated supplement.
Parker’s long-time manager David Higgins recently stated that the 32-year-old plans to fight again this year.
‘We’ve discussed it as a team and, yes, there’s a contractual rematch with Zhang but we’re not too concerned. Joe wants to compete again in September/October,’ Higgins said.
‘That’s what they are discussing with us. As long as it fits that timeframe, it doesn’t matter who the opponent is. If he needs to face Zhang, that’s okay.
‘We all believe he can defeat him again. But if not, we would also be willing to fight someone else.’
