April is typically the hottest month in Thailand, and the entire country will have very high temperatures. Today, it will be as hot as 42oC in some northern and central provinces, according to the Meteorological Department’s forecast.
Low pressure is causing the hot weather in the northern and north-eastern regions, including around Bangkok, with hazy skies during the day.
The Weatherman warns of potential summer storms in north-eastern, eastern, and southern-central provinces due to southerly and south-easterly winds. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in the south and over the Andaman Sea.
In the southern-central region, including Bangkok, temperatures today will range from 38oC and 42oC to 24oC- 27oC. In the north, temperatures are expected to reach 42oC in some areas, while in north-eastern and eastern provinces, the maximum temperature will be 40oC.
C. The east coast of the southern region will be hot, with a maximum temperature of 38oC and a 30% chance of rain.
Yesterday, maximum temperatures reached 41oC in Muang district of Lampang, 40.5oC in Muang district of Suphan Buri, and 40oC in the Khlong Luang district of Pathum Thani province.
In the central province of Chainat, where temperatures soared to 41oC on Sunday, many people in Sapphaya district visited a temporary water park in front of Wat Sakae to escape the hot weather.
The temple and residents in the neighborhood created a makeshift water park along the Chao Phraya River. Stilt shelters were built in the river to accommodate tourists, with food and drinks available.
A homemade slide was also made for the children, and a beach volleyball court is available on the beach. This temporary water park is open daily from 9am to 7pm.
The district’s municipal administration plans to organize Songkran festival events at the site to attract more tourists.
