Delays have been seen across the country as many people travel for the holiday Easter Weekend.
Traffic on the northbound side of the M40 near Warrick was briefly stopped due to a car fire. Emergency services are responding to the fire.
National Highways Posted on Twitter at 11am that this caused at least 20 minutes of delays for incoming vehicles. The incident was still happening at 1pm.
The agency’s website also shows 'severe' traffic on the A303 heading west and the A1 going north, and lane closures on the A19 going north because a vehicle has broken down.
There are similar reports of 'moderate' traffic on the A27 going west, as well as another breakdown on the eastbound side of the M62 and a collision on the M25 between junctions J17 and J16.
There were massive queues on major motorways causing long journey times on Good Friday.
An RAC survey suggests that up to 14 million trips will be made over the weekend. The wait times at the Port of Dover could be up to two hours and hundreds of thousands of people are heading to the nation’s airports.
There are also disruptions, cancellations, and diversions across national rail services.
National Rail reported a broken rail between Newcastle and Durham causing major disruptions on services between Edinburgh, Birmingham and Bristol, between Newcastle and Reading, between Aberdeen and London, and between Newcastle and London. These are expected to last until the end of the day.
The company says it is doing 'major engineering work' over the weekend and 'various routes' are affected as improvements are made along the London Euston to Milton Keynes Central line, London Liverpool Street to Colchester line, and the Elizabeth line. There will also be 'key work' in Glasgow and Huddersfield.
There is also engineering work between Britxton and Nunhead, so there are currently no services via Denmark Hill in London. There were no morning trains through Charing Cross due to work between there and Waterloo East.
Bus replacement services are also available for trains via Faversham, as well as between Sevenoaks and Maidstone East, Borough Green and Wrotham, and Lewisham and Sidcup.
Carnage has also been reported across the nation’s rail services.
