    In a game against Plymouth Whitemarsh, Quakertown's softball team made an early strong showing with a win

    Quakertown was the champions last season and most of their important players are back this year. They are expected to win the league title again.

    Plymouth Whitemarsh is one of the teams that could dethrone the defending champions. They finished tied for second last season and have many key players returning.

    In their fourth game of the season, Quakertown triumphed over Plymouth Whitemarsh with a 9-2 win, showing their strength with 15 hits.

    Quakertown's pitcher Abbey Wagner emphasized the significance of the win, stating that it reaffirmed their position as the top team against their strong rivals.

    Shortstop Ava Beal also highlighted the importance of the win, commending her teammates for stepping up, especially in the absence of some players.

    Ava Beal played a key role in the game, contributing significantly to the offense with a 4-for-4 performance, including two RBIs and two runs scored.

    Quakertown extended their lead with three more runs in the fourth inning, showcasing the team's offensive prowess.

    Plymouth Whitemarsh's coach acknowledged Quakertown's strong lineup and the challenge of facing players like Ava Beal and Leah Schwalm.

    Kira Jefferson's solo home run and several hits in the sixth inning further cemented Quakertown's lead.

    Ava Beal emphasized the team's unity and ability to inspire each other, leading to collective success on the field.

    Pitcher Abbey Wagner had a solid performance, leading Quakertown to victory with five strikeouts, no walks, and allowing only two runs.

    Plymouth Whitemarsh's coach expressed admiration for Quakertown's improved offense and impressive defense, despite their solid hitting performance.

    Plymouth Whitemarsh scored in the first inning when Caelin Kosvitch was hit by a pitch and Madison Moran hit an RBI double, bringing Kosvitch home. Another run was added in the sixth inning when Sam Skivo hit a solo home run.

    Moran suffered the loss, giving up five runs on nine hits while striking out three batters and walking none in 3 1/3 innings. Rian Reed came in as relief and allowed four runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings while striking out three batters and walking none.

    After playing four games in six days, the Colonials (2-2, 1-1 SOL Liberty) are taking a break until April 3, when they will play Hatboro-Horsham.

    “We started the season with four tough games against strong competitors,” Perez said, “a challenge to ourselves to see what we’re made of. This game was a good way to evaluate our position and where we need to improve. (Quakertown is) the standard in the league, and we understand that we need to reach that level to succeed and achieve our goals.”
