Josh has been considering a position in Whitehall for a few years and left Gogglebox in 2018 after being offered a job in the Cabinet Office.

At the time, he told The Mirror that the door was open for him to return, but that ‘the focus is now on my job.’

Regarding his first day on the job, he said: ‘It was really strange walking through the front door of Number 10.

‘After a few seconds, you completely forget where you are…in the heart of Government.’

After a two-year job, Josh seemed to have developed an interest in politics and stood as a Labour candidate in the Chipping Barnet area several years later.

When launching his campaign in 2022, he mentioned ‘reversing Tory neglect on our green spaces’ and ‘pioneering institutional changes in mental health support’ as some of his goals.

If elected as MP for Hertsmere, Josh has promised to address the cost of living crisis, invest in the NHS, develop a green economy, enhance education, increase the number of social and affordable homes, and revitalize the high street and town centers.

Josh previously mentioned that his interest in politics was influenced by watching Rob Lowe in The West Wing as Deputy White House Communications Director Sam Seaborn.

Josh is not the first Gogglebox star to have explored politics.

The Michaels family left the Channel 4 favorite in 2014 because father Andrew was running as a UKIP candidate in the general election.

However, the Brighton-based family returned to the show the following year after Andrew,

who passed away in 2021 , did not win the Hastings and Rye seat for UKIP.Sunak must call a general election by January 2025 at the latest (Picture: Getty)

    Rishi Sunak
The government has not confirmed the date of the general election, but

has ruled out a Rishi Sunak on May 2 when voters will cast ballots for the local elections. snap vote His ‘working assumption’ is it will be held in the second half of this year, though

experts have guessed it will be conducted sooner Chancellor Jeremy Hunt recently indicated it might happen in October..

The farthest possible date for a general election – determined by the prime minister – is late January 2025. One must be conducted every five years.

Quite the unexpected turn of events.
