President Biden revealed his choices for the upcoming NCAA basketball tournaments shortly before March Madness starts.

Biden chose the University of Connecticut Huskies to win the men's tournament again, saying the No. 1 seed Big East team will defend their title and win the program's sixth national championship.

He predicts UConn will defeat the Houston Cougars (30-4) in the final game.

The president anticipates some surprises in the first round. He selected No. 13 College of Charleston to defeat No. 4 Alabama, No. 11 New Mexico to surpass No. 6 Clemson, and No. 12 McNeese State to send the No. 5 Gonzaga Bulldogs back to Spokane, Wash., early.

The president's Final Four includes three No. 1 seeds: North Carolina, UConn, and Houston, with No. 2 Tennessee.

For the women's tournament, Biden chose the South Carolina Gamecocks to finish their undefeated season by defeating UCLA in the championship game.

Biden predicted that Stanford and UConn will reach the Final Four. He selected Colorado to defeat the No. 1 Iowa Hawkeyes, led by NCAA leading scorer Caitlin Clark.

Biden also picked No. 12 Florida Gulf Coast University to cause an upset by defeating No. 5 Oklahoma in the first round and knocking off No. 4 Indiana in the second, before losing to the Gamecocks in the third.

“It's time for college basketball's biggest tournament,” Biden mentioned in a statement on social media on Wednesday. “I wish the best of luck to all the teams competing.”

Biden selected the same winner for both the men's and women's tournaments as his former boss, former President Obama, who shared his selections on Tuesday.
