Our favorite money-saving expert Martin Lewis has provided a trick on how to acquire the most affordable flights for your vacation this year.
But you need to act fast because these prices will only be low for a short time.
Martin went on X today to share his travel hack, saying: 'This is an urgent message if you fly with EasyJet. There's a chance to get much cheaper prices than usual, but you need to act fast.'
This technique to obtain cheap flights only works for EasyJet, so if you want flights with a different airline, you're out of luck.
Martin explains that EasyJet uses dynamic pricing based on the demand for a specific flight.
'If there's high demand for that flight, the price goes up. If there's less demand, the price goes down,' he says.
Basically, you want to buy your flights when demand is at its lowest, as they will be the least expensive.
This is where his clever strategy comes in. He says: 'Typically, the very lowest prices are right when the flights are launched… be there as soon as the second flights are launched.'
So when does EasyJet launch its flights? Tomorrow Thursday March 21, 2024.
'It's launching 10 million UK seats for flights from December 1, 2024 to March 2, 2025 – including that critical Christmas time period,' Martin adds.
'Now, if you can act fast when they launch, that is usually the very cheapest time. So when are they launching? This is the tricky part – it says 9am, but typically we start to see them launch from 6am or even earlier.'
EasyJet has stated they're launching new flights tomorrow at 9am, but it's worth going online from 6am just in case they are available earlier.
Martin says: 'The best thing to do would be to get online at 6am and start checking at that time, but the decision is up to you.'
After sharing the same advice last year, Martin tells the story of a woman who saved hundreds of pounds.
He says: 'Vicky Green tweeted me: 'Thanks martin flights captured at 6.15am for Christmas in Lanzarote at £215 cheaper per seat than what they're currently showing.'
'She sent that at 8am.'
Within just two hours, the flight prices had increased by £215, so getting there as early as possible is definitely worthwhile.
Martin also mentions as a disclaimer that, of course, if there's no demand for the flight, there's a chance it could eventually be cheaper than the launch price, but you'll never know if that will happen.
This money-saving trick comes after Martin warned couples they could be missing out on significant savings, just last week.
He has warned couples that they could be missing out on a big tax saving of over £1,000 thanks to marriage allowance.
To qualify, couples must be married, with one partner being a basic rate tax payer (earning up to £50,270 per year) and the other earning less than £12,570.
They could save up to £252 a year – and as this can be backdated four years, when the saving is added together, it can reach £1,256.
Most workers can earn £12,570 tax free through their 'personal allowance'.
If one partner earns less than that, they can transfer some of their allowance to their partner to reduce their tax payments.
