The Bafta TV Awards 2024 nominations have just been announced and although many popular shows and stars were recognized, there are some unexpected snubs too.
The Crown, Happy Valley and Black Mirror episode Demon 79 are the top contenders for the awards.
However some fan favorites have been overlooked in the categories.
Although ITV’s flagship breakfast program typically secures a nomination at the National Television Awards, This Morning has been excluded from the daytime category.
Instead, Lorraine, Loose Women and Men, Make It At Market and Scam Interceptors are the shows in the running.
Additionally, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! failed to receive a nomination in the reality category after criticism of including Nigel Farage and a subsequent drop in ratings. Also surprising is the absence of Big Brother, which made a well-received return in 2023.
The nominated shows are instead Banged Up, Married At First Sight UK, My Mum, Your Dad and Squid Game: The Challenge.

The final season of Ghosts also failed to secure a nomination in the scripted comedy category, as Big Boys, Dreaming Whilst Black, Extraordinary and Such Brave Girls received nods instead.
Despite being nominated in the comedy category, none of the cast of Big Boys were recognized in the male or female performance in a comedy categories.
Another notable omission is James Norton’s final portrayal of Tommy Lee Royce in the third season of Happy Valley, which concluded dramatically at the beginning of last year.
Instead, leading actor nominations include Brian Cox for Succession, Dominic West for The Crown, Kane Robinson for Top Boy, Paapa Essiedu forThe Lazarus Project, Steve Coogan for The Reckoning and Timothy Spall for The Sixth Commandment.
However, his former co-stars Sarah Lancashire, Siobhan Finneran and Amit Shah received nominations in the leading actress and supporting actress and supporting actor categories.
Meanwhile, other leading actors like Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) and Jonathan Bailey (Fellow Travelers) also missed out.
There have been mixed responses to the nominations, with one person on X saying: ‘Fellow Travelers and Jonathan Bailey were snubbed at the Baftas. Not surprising, but disappointing.’
Meanwhile, others are advocating for ‘Justice for James Norton.’
The Bafta TV Craft Award winners will be revealed on April 28, while the main Bafta Television Awards ceremony will take place on May 12.
