Marvel star Jonathan Majors has been sued by his former girlfriend after being convicted of assaulting her.
The US actor’s ex, British actress Grace Jabbari, filed a lawsuit in a federal court on Tuesday, alleging she was a victim of battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, malicious prosecution and defamation, according to the PA news agency.
In court arguments, she claims Majors, 34, subjected her to a ‘pattern of pervasive domestic abuse that began in 2021 and extended through 2023’.
The documents detail multiple alleged acts of violence towards Jabbari.
A lawyer for Majors has announced the actor is ‘preparing counterclaims’ against Jabarri, and claimed the suit is ‘no surprise’.
It comes after Majors was convicted of assaulting and harassing Habbari in New York, while he continues to deny the allegations.
He is due to be sentenced on April 8.
A lawyer for Jabbari said it ‘takes true bravery to hold someone with this level of power and acclaim accountable, bravery that Grace Jabbari has demonstrated at every stage of the legal process’.
They added ‘we strongly believe that through this action, truth and transparency will bring Grace the justice that she deserves’.
Majors has been dropped by Disney and Marvel studios after being found guilty in court.
He played Kang the Conqueror in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and starred in the current season of Disney+ series Loki.
He was also due to feature in several other upcoming MCU titles, including a fifth Avengers movie.
Following his guilty verdict, a lawyer said Majors ‘looks forward to fully clearing his name.’
In December, Majors was found guilty of assault and aggravated harassment after a six-person jury announced a split verdict following around five hours of deliberations, and faces up to a year behind bars.
Majors was acquitted on one count of assault and another count of aggravated harassment.
