President Biden attempted to win over Latino voters and raise funds in Arizona, explaining the difference between himself and former President Trump.

“You’re the reason why, in large part, I defeated Donald Trump,” Biden said at a campaign event in Phoenix. “I really need your support.”

Then he referred to Trump’s remarks about Latino immigrants. Recently, Trump made controversial comments, including that immigrants are “poisoning the blood” of America, and stated that some undocumented immigrants are “not people.”

“He only concerns himself with the wealthy,” Biden said on Tuesday, talking about Trump.

The president highlighted Latino members of his administration, such as Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona.

The focus on Latinos is part of Biden’s campaign's national program to involve and rally Latino voters. Biden’s Latinos con Biden-Harris initiative started on Tuesday and aims to kick off a series of events to involve, train, and mobilize Latino supporters.

Biden traveled to Nevada and Arizona with the aim of targeting Trump on key issues like immigration, as well as protecting democracy, abortion rights, and unions.

Biden is behind Trump in Arizona, where the former president has a 5.1 percent lead, according to a compilation of polls by Decision Desk HQ. Trump also leads in Nevada, with a 5.7 percent advantage, according to a compilation of polls.

Earlier on Tuesday, the president, while in Nevada, defended his low poll numbers and claimed that in the last few national polls, he was beating Trump. He praised the press as all “good guys,” as some Democrats have criticized the media’s focus on the president’s poor polling numbers against Trump.
