Former President Trump criticized Democrats on Monday for how they understood his weekend comments in which he cautioned that there would be a 'bloodbath' if he doesn't win the election in November.
Trump posted on Truth Social, stating that the media and Democrats acted surprised at his use of the word 'BLOODBATH', although they knew he was referring to the negative impact of imports allowed by Joe Biden on the automobile industry.
He added that the United Auto Workers, with the exception of their leadership, fully comprehend his meaning. He emphasized that if he is elected president, auto manufacturing will thrive due to his opposition to the Electric Car Mandate pushed by Biden.
During a rally in Ohio on Saturday, Trump warned that he would impose a 100 percent tariff on cars from China if he gets elected.
Trump stated, “Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the country, that’ll be the least of it. But they’re not going to sell those cars, they’re building massive factories.”
The use of “bloodbath” in his remarks quickly spread across the internet, with Democrats and Trump critics arguing that he was inciting violence if he loses the election in November.
Biden commented on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “It’s clear this guy wants another January 6. But the American people are going to give him another resounding electoral defeat this November.”
Trump's allies argued that the former president’s words were being misunderstood and that he was actually discussing the potential negative impact on the auto industry if Biden wins re-election. and that he was clearly talking about the auto industry being decimated if Biden wins reelection.
