He also stated in a separate post that it is “[e]asy to tell who is an NPC today” next to a meme depicting gray cartoon characters with a speech bubble saying “bloodbath.” NPC stands for “nonplayable character” — a term referring to video game characters that users cannot control and that often have scripted lines, according to The New York Times. The Times observed that the meme format gained popularity among right-wing commentators who used it to insinuate that liberals cannot think for themselves. Musk also urged users to share posts from X with their friends.
