Sir Jim Ratcliffe is on a major cost-cutting campaign at Manchester United and will let go of staff members to free up cash, as per reports.

Significant job cuts are anticipated at Old Trafford as Ratcliffe aims to prioritize investment in the team and ensure that United do not violate spending regulations.

Ratcliffe, who oversees football operations after acquiring 25 per cent ownership of the club, has already listed nine players for sale in preparation for a substantial reconstruction.

The British billionaire has also pinpointed a top transfer target for the summer window – Jarrad Branthwaite – who has performed well at Everton this season.

Further changes are expected, as reported in The Telegraph, which states that Ratcliffe has hired a corporate reorganization firm to supervise a cost-cutting initiative.

The firm, Interpath Advisory, has commenced their assessment this month and is evaluating all areas of the club to identify potential savings.

It is estimated that up to 250 jobs could be at risk, which accounts for approximately 20 to 25 per cent of the staff, in what could be a significant move to improve the team and ensure that United adheres to profit and sustainability regulations.

United had 1,112 employees as of June 30, 2023 – the highest among the big six teams in the Premier League – and there is a 'general consensus' that staffing levels are excessive.

Meanwhile, Ratcliffe has not publicly endorsed United manager Erik ten Hag yet, leading to speculation that the Dutchman could also be on the verge of leaving.

Dan Ashworth, who is expected to become sporting director at Old Trafford, has already met with Graham Potter who has been linked with potentially replacing Ten Hag.
