A new gambler who didn't know what a stake is won over £3,000 from a free bet at Cheltenham races.

Faye Parry, 28, received a free £20 bet from Coral and used it on a fivefold accumulator – which turned out well yesterday as the race results came in.

In total, she earned £3.095.59 from her free bet – and she jokingly apologized to other betters who were not as fortunate at the festival.

By selecting five horses to win each way, she bet on Slade Steel in the first race of the festival at 1.30pm at 4/1.

Faye also bet on Gaelic Warrior – at 9/4 – in the second race of the day at 2.10pm.

Then Chianti Classico in the third race at 2.50pm at 13/2.

Faye said: 'Why is everyone upset because I won money but didn't know what a stake was. Apologies to all of you betters. Can't believe I just won three grand.'

Betters gave their opinions on the matter, with one saying: 'I don't even know what the word stake meant and still won £3,000. I'm jealous, I can't deny it.'

Another said: 'Wins three grand without knowing what a stake is. I have lost that amount and more in the past month, what the heck, man.'
