Experts who are very good at playing Super Mario are trying very hard to finish a game for the Wii U before it's closed down

A group of Super Mario Maker players are just six levels away from beating all the game’s levels before they disappear completely next month.

After closing the 3DS and Wii U eShops last year, Nintendo is going to stop the services for both consoles' online features on April 8.

This means online functions for games like Splatoon and the original Mario Kart 8 will stop working. One of the sad things is that you won’t be able to play all the levels that users created in 2015’s Super Mario Maker.

No new levels have been added to the game since March 31, 2021 when Nintendo stopped letting people upload new levels. So, there has been a set number of levels for a few years. But now, there is a rush to finish all the levels before they go away for good.

A group called Team 0% is working together to make sure every level is beaten before the closure next month, and they are even documenting their efforts on the website Is Super Mario Maker Beaten Yet? to follow their progress.

As of March 13, there are only six levels that have not been beaten, out of the millions available. One of the levels, called Trimming The Herbs, is very hard – it has been tried over 58,000 times since it was added in August 2017.

The level was made by a player from Canada named Ahoyoo, who put a video on YouTube where they completed the level. In Super Mario Maker, you can only share a level after showing that it's possible to beat – but no one else has been able to do it.

Crazy, the level only lasts for about 18 seconds, but it needs a lot of precision. If you look carefully, as well as avoiding Pirahna Plants and circular saws, the player is throwing and grabbing Bob-ombs to move around the level very precisely.

Another level that is very hard is Welcome! Extreme made by a player in Japan, which has had over 52,000 failed tries since it was added in December 2017.

There's still a month to go before the servers are closed, so we will have to see if Team 0% can finish these final six levels before everything stops.

While the original Super Mario Maker will lose all its online functions in April, players can still create and share levels in its sequel on Nintendo Switch.
