leaving ITV ‘with immediate effect’ The news of his departure came after the 61-year-old admitted to lying about having an affair with a younger runner on the show..

Following his exit, Holly Willoughby, 43, left This Morning shortly afterwards,

saying in a statement shared on social media that it was a ‘difficult goodbye’ for her. In the months since, various presenters have temporarily taken Phillip and Holly’s place in the studio, before it was finally confirmed that Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley will be taking over their roles on a permanent basis.

In a new interview, Alison, 49, addressed how she feels about Phillip, stressing that she didn’t want to ‘get into salacious gossip’.

After Phillip and Holly left This Morning after several years of hosting together, there was speculation that perhaps Alison and her co-host Dermot O’Leary, 50, could move from their Friday slots to full-time roles.

However, The Great British Bake Off presenter has denied that this was ever considered.

‘We’re the Friday guys! We love being Friday guys!’, she said, stressing that there was ‘absolutely not’ any discussions about her hosting more shows in the week.

‘How could I? I live in Birmingham and do Bake Off and For the Love of Dogs. I never wanted that job. Last year we did extra because we were going through issues, but Cat and Ben will save that show,’ she stated.
