Jose Mourinho asserts that he is prepared to promptly return to management amid growing demand from Chelsea fans for him to make a sentimental comeback to Stamford Bridge.
The Special One is currently unemployed following his emotional departure from Roma earlier this season.
Despite having upset a group of Chelsea fans during his time as manager of Manchester United and Tottenham, most Blues fans still have strong affection for the man who orchestrated three Premier League title-winning campaigns.
The relationship between match-going supporters and current Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is currently strained after a series of disappointing results, including last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Brentford.
After losing the lead, the away fans redirected their frustration from owner Todd Boehly to Pochettino, and then called for Mourinho's return.
The 61-year-old seems to be enjoying his time away from football and is currently in Saudi Arabia, where he attended the Grand Prix in Jeddah on Sunday and watched Anthony Joshua knock out Francis Ngannou on Friday night.
When asked if he was ready to resume his coaching career, Mourinho told beIN Sport: ‘I'm not taking a break, I want to work.
‘I want to work but I just don’t want to make the wrong decision. I have to wait for the right one, the one that motivates me. But if I could work tomorrow I would.’
In a subsequent interview with Sky Sports, Mourinho was keen to emphasize that he was still proud of his achievements with Roma, where he led to consecutive European finals.
‘I hope so, I want to,’ said Mourinho when asked if he was ready to return to the dugout.
‘You know Roma was great because we had two European finals in two years and that’s hard at a club that never did it. Now I have to wait for the right opportunity.
‘I want to work tomorrow if possible, but I don’t want to make the wrong decision.’
