Wayne Rooney has given a warning to Casemiro following Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday.
Two first-half penalties, earned by Alejandro Garnacho, and converted by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, secured a 2-0 victory for Erik ten Hag’s team. This result leaves them in sixth place in the Premier League, now three points behind Tottenham.
Everton made a strong start at Old Trafford and had opportunities to take the lead. However, Casemiro had a shaky performance in United's midfield.
Rooney believes that United's current setup leaves the Brazilian midfielder exposed and with too much ground to cover.
‘I think there was too much space from the back line to the forward players,’ Rooney expressed. ‘The team has got a lot of work to do to try to hold the middle of the pitch. TNT Sports.
‘Casemiro ‘Against a better team than
were today, I think they could encounter problems. Everton ’They deserved to win. They have match-winners. I think Rashford and Bruno are match-winners, and as we saw today, Garnacho created two goals.'
‘Deserved to win, but they can certainly perform better than they did today.

‘I think today Garnacho was the one who made things happen. He was certainly the best player on the field,’ Rooney stated.
‘I think his work rate off the ball is fantastic, he’s not afraid to put the work in. He is going to make mistakes, as he is a young player, he is still learning.
‘But what he has got is a driving hunger which any fan wants to see in any player. I’ve been really pleased with him this season, and I think he will be a special talent moving forward.
‘I think his numbers, his output, his goals and assists can improve.
‘He’s got the capability to do that, so I believe we'll see better numbers from him over the next few years.
‘He’s still young, still learning, and he’s probably been Manchester United’s best player this season.’
