The announcement by former Rep. George Santos about entering a different House race in New York surprised many people, including his former communications director.

When asked if there was something wrong with Santos, who was removed from his position in December, Naysa Woomer appeared to agree with the assessment.

“I want to say yes, a little bit, because it sounds like someone who just, he went from being a congressman to a celebrity,” Woomer told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “The Lead.” “And I think, just the media attention that came around him during his entire time in Congress, it just, I think it increased his ego…I mean, it’s a joke.” told She also added, “And one of my biggest questions is, you know, do we need to go back?”

“And one of my biggest questions is, you know, do we need to go back?” she added.

Naysa Woomer’s remarks came shortly after Santos unexpectedly appeared at President Biden’s State of the Union address and used social media to declare his candidacy for New York’s 1st Congressional District against Rep. Nick Lakota (R-N.Y.) She said in response to LaLota's statement. LaLota replied by indicating he was ready for the challenge.

LaLota replied, indicating he would be up for the challenge. Santos expressed his thoughts on X , formerly known as Twitter, stating, “New York hasn’t had a real conservative represent them since I left office arbitrarily, thanks to RINO, empty suits like Nick LaLota.”Santos’s appearance at Biden’s Congressional address triggered more than a few negative reactions.

Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) — who played a significant role in the effort to expel the former lawmaker — revealed plans for a new rule to prevent him from making another surprise visit.

The GEORGE rule — or the “Getting Expelled Officially Revokes Guaranteed Entry” rule — would ensure former members who have been voted out of the House cannot use their privileges to return to the House floor. posted on XWoomer expressed her support for the rule during the interview with Tapper, who called the title “pretty clever.”

“I think it is a good rule,” she said. “I mean, let’s just remember too, only, I think he’s the sixth member of Congress who had been expelled.” The former aide suggested that she is in favor of the rule during the interview with Tapper. Naysa Woomer endorsed the rule during her Friday interview with Tapper.
