A long-serving assistant to former President Trump has entered a House race in Georgia following Trump's encouragement to run.
Brian Jack submitted his application for the position for Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District on Thursday, the same day Trump stated on Truth Social that he would back him if he decided to pursue the role. The seat is currently held by outgoing Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.), who declared in December that he would not seek reelection after serving in the House since 2017.
Trump mentioned in his Truth Social message that Jack, 36, embodies Loyalty, Honesty, and Integrity” and represents a “New Generation of Leadership.”
“Brian has been contemplating running to replace Drew, as he has always aspired to achieve remarkable things for Georgia and our Country,” Trump stated. “I urge Brian, a Fayette County native, to go for it, pursue his dream, and run for Congress.”
Jack worked for Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and held the position of White House director of political affairs during his administration. He has been working as an adviser to Trump’s 2024 campaign.
A source familiar with the decision informed Politico that Trump campaign political adviser Alex Latcham will assume Jack’s role as a liaison between Trump and Capitol Hill. But Jack will continue as an adviser and contribute to the development of Trump’s campaign in Georgia.
Georgia’s 3rd District strongly favors Republicans, so Jack would very likely win the seat if nominated as the Republican candidate.
