Queen Camilla plans to take a break from royal duties by traveling overseas tomorrow for a sunny vacation, as per reports.

The Queen, 76, has been holding the fort as the most senior royal undertaking engagements, with both King Charles and Kate away from the spotlight for medical reasons.

But she will be away from work for a week after taking a private flight on holiday, The Sun reports.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward said: ‘This will raise the question of who’s in charge at such a vital time and with so many key royals out of action.’

Heir to the throne Prince William also had to cancel a major engagement last week for undisclosed personal reasons.

Camilla has carried out 13 official engagements since last month, attending several events solo where she would usually have had her husband by her side.

She was dubbed the monarchy’s ‘saviour’ and praised for keeping ‘the show on the road’ in the King’s absence.

One major event was leading the royal family at a memorial for the life of King Constantine of Greece in Windsor Castle after William, 42, pulled out of giving a reading at the last minute, and hosting a reception for hundreds of guests immediately afterwards.

She also hosted the wife of the Ukrainian president at her London residence on Thursday morning, marking the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Ms Seward said she thought Charles would have ‘insisted’ that his wife took a break after such busy schedule, when she must also be under a lot of stress from the health scares in the family.

‘He will see that she is exhausted after recent months,’ she said, adding that the holiday is an ‘excellent indication’ that the King is doing well after starting treatment for cancer.

The Queen is due to be back at work on March 11, when she will stand in for the King at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.

While she is away, other royals including Prince William, Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are expecting to take on public engagements.

The King remains in London but is taking time off while recovering from surgery, after he was diagnosed with cancer last month.

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, 42, has not been seen publicly since Christmas Day due to scheduled abdominal surgery.

As speculation swirled online about the health of the princess, her office released an update last week saying: ‘Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands.’

They added she continues to be doing well in her recovery.
