Five rad and random playing cards I found this week

My job is to find cool stuff. Throughout the week I spend hours scouring the web for things that are useful or fun or ridiculously cheap. Often times, these choices coalesce into a guide of like items—for example, the ultimate guide to making cafe-style coffee in your own home or rad gifts for Father’s Day. But I often stumble across some pretty awesome gear that doesn’t really fit into a list. So I made a list for those.

    Gremlins playing cards

    Think Geek

    SEE IT

Based off the 1984 classic Gremlins, this standard size playing card set features a different Gremlin—or adorable Gizmo—on every card. Just like the Gremlins, make sure not to get them wet. $8.

    Hoyle Waterproof Clear Playing Cards

    Amazon

    SEE IT

Unlike the Gremlins options above, these Hoyle playing cards are totally fine to bring to a pool party. The cards are flexible, waterproof, and come printed on clear plastic. They are the perfect set for a rainy day. $6.

    VedaCards Scientist playing cards

    Amazon

    SEE IT

Each card in this deck includes information on famous scientists, explorers, doctors, and other historical figures. Instead of hearts, spades, diamonds, and clubs, the suits are philosophers, biologists, medical professionals, and chemists. $9.

    Optical Illusions Card Game

    Amazon

    SEE IT

Every card in the deck features a new optical illusion. When you get tired of War or Go Fish, you’ll be able to boggle your mind with some sweet visual trickery. $12.

    Nintendo Super Mario Cards

    Amazon

    SEE IT

This set of Super Mario playing cards features scenes from four iterations of the Super Mario games. Each suit—aces, hearts, clubs, and spades—includes artwork from either Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and Super Mario Bros. $14.
