Erik ten Hag is prepared to step down from the Man Utd position if a certain commitment is not kept

Erik ten Has is ready to leave Manchester United at the conclusion of the season if he does not receive reassurances from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.

United take on Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon, aiming to keep what has been a disappointing season alive.

Following elimination from the Champions League at the group stages, United have failed to keep up with the leading teams in the Premier League, displaying no championship ambitions throughout the season, with hopes of finishing in the top four now nearly extinguished.

United trail fourth-placed Aston Villa by 13 points with six matches remaining, and qualification for the Europa League seems to be their best-case scenario.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS concluded their partial takeover earlier this year and have already begun implementing significant changes to the club’s football operations.

Omar Berrada has been appointed as the club’s new chief executive, with Dan Ashworth expected to be recruited from Newcastle United as their new sporting director. The club recently confirmed the hiring of Jason Wilcox from Southampton as their new technical director.

Ratcliffe and his team have met with ten Hag to discuss plans for the next season, but changes in the coaching staff may ensue.

United still have an opportunity to win a trophy if they defeat Coventry this afternoon, with Manchester City awaiting them in what would be a repeat of last season’s FA Cup final.

But The Mirror reports claim that ten Hag will depart at the end of the season regardless if he does not receive comprehensive and committed support from the new co-owners.

United has a history of such situations, with Louis van Gaal famously leaving the club the day United won the FA Cup after defeating Crystal Palace in 2016.

Ten Hag has one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, having signed a three-year deal upon his arrival in Manchester in 2022.

Former Brighton and Chelsea manager Graham Potter, who has ties to INEOS, has been linked to replace the Dutchman while rumors about Zinedine Zidane taking over have resurfaced in recent days.

The renowned midfielder, who has not managed a club since leaving Real Madrid for the second time in 2021, reportedly prefers taking charge at United over Bayern Munich, who are also seeking their next manager.
