Michigan’s Democratic Party is reserving $10.5 million in ad reservations to help candidates running in the November state House elections.
The party plans to allocate $2.5 million each in Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Detroit. An additional $1 million will be spent in Marquette, and $700,000 in Traverse City and South Bend. The remaining $900,000 will be used for ads in Flint.
This major ad reservation is on top of the nearly $8 million that Michigan House Democrats have already spent in reservations in Detroit's media market.
This news follows Michigan Democrats regaining the majority in the state House last Tuesday, granting the party complete control of state government. Earlier, the lower chamber was tied 54-54, but two Democratic lawmakers left their seats after winning mayoral races.
Michigan Democrats have enjoyed success in recent years, winning competitive races for governor, Senate, and House. Both parties will face another test in November, this time during a presidential election.
According to The Hill’s Decision Desk HQ polling average, former President Trump is leading President Biden in the state with 46.7 percent against 43.4 percent.
