Erik ten Hag says he anticipates both Antony and Scott McTominay to be healthy and ready for Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City this weekend.

Antony, 24, did not participate in United’s draw at Bournemouth in the Premier League due to a muscle injury, but has been training as normal this week and appears likely to return to Ten Hag’s first-team squad.

McTominay, on the other hand, has been sidelined with a knee injury since the Red Devils’ dramatic defeat at Chelsea on April 4 – missing the club’s last two games – and has been stepping up his recovery in recent days.

The 27-year-old Scotland midfielder, undoubtedly eager to be involved at Wembley on Sunday, will test his fitness for the first time in full training today.

Asked for an update on the duo at his pre-match press conference this afternoon, Ten Hag told reporters: ‘Antony and Scott, I expect them to be back.

‘Scott didn’t train all week, partial. Today I expect them in full [training].

‘Antony did train the whole week.’

Coventry, winners of the FA Cup back in 1987, saw off Premier League opposition in the shape of Wolves to set up an intriguing clash with United and Ten Hag has nothing but praise for Mark Robins and the work he has done.

‘We did our job and we are prepared so we know their team, how they work and how they play,’ the United head coach said.

We know the individual ability of the players and, of course, we know also the manager, a former United player, a striker, a long period there.

He’s doing a fantastic job so we know a lot about them.

Asked whether there is a chance his players could underestimate their Championship opposition, Ten Hag replied: ‘Last season they were close to being promoted to the Premier League so they’re doing a fantastic job over there.

‘We have seen the game against Wolves in the quarter-final, the mentality of the team is fabulous.

‘We have to play to our best efforts.’
