Minecraft can be played on many platforms, but there isn't a version specifically for the latest generation yet.

Mention of Minecraft on PS5 surfaced during Microsoft's Federal Trade Commission trial last year, where Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer blamed Sony for the absence of a PS5 version.
'Sony was hesitant to provide us with development kits for the PlayStation 5 at the same time as they were giving them to other developers, putting us at a disadvantage compared to others,' Spencer said (via ). Since its launch in 2009, Minecraft has sold over 300 million copies. By comparison, as of 2024, GTA 5 has sold 190 million copies.
