BBC viewers expressed excitement for the latest season of Race Across the World which will be on our screens soon.

The broadcaster confirmed the beloved reality show will return for season 4 and will start on BBC One at the regular time of Wednesday 9pm on April 10.

Fans of the show are thrilled about the announcement, with John Batch on X calling the show the ‘best thing on TV.’

Agreeing with John, Heléna Davies exclaimed: ‘Can't wait! Finally something good to watch.’

Ryan Love, meanwhile, suggested everyone to ‘mark your calendars’ with Race Across the World’s launch date.

Many other enthusiastic viewers also praised the news of its return as ‘brilliant’ and ‘epic’ on social media.

The BBC has not yet announced the contestants or the route they will take.

The previous seasons have seen the pairs travel from London to Singapore, Mexico City to Ushuaia, Argentina, and across Canada.

Race Across the World season 4 comes after the BBC aired its first celebrity spin-off, which saw stars backpacking from Marrakesh, Morrocco to Tromso, Norway.

It featured McFly’s Harry Judd and his mother Emma, GMB’s Alex Beresford and his father Noel, All Saints singer Melanie Blatt and her mother Helene, and F1 ace Billy Monger and his sister Bonnie.

Alex and Noel were eventually crowned winners after the 10,000km race, with the presenter stating: ‘It feels fantastic. We feel like we’re on top of the world right now.’

Race Across the World has couples going on a trip where they must travel between two destinations thousands of miles apart without modern conveniences such as phones and the internet.

Instead, they must rely on the kindness of strangers and odd jobs to fund and carry out their travels to reach the final checkpoint first in record time. Those who are too slow get eliminated week by week.

There is also a cash prize up for grabs with previous seasons awarding the winners £20,000.

Another BBC show poised to return, 30 years after it was last seen on screen, is huge eighties drama Bergerac.

Running for a decade between 1981 and 1991, the BBC crime drama took place in Jersey and featured John Nettles as the title character Jim Bergerac.

A reboot with a new face in the title role is ‘almost a done deal’ with an unnamed streaming service said to be on board.

Race Across The World is back on Wednesday 10th April at 9pm on BBC One.
