The House Education Committee revealed on Wednesday that it has requested information from Rutgers University about its management of antisemitism on campus, making it the fifth college under investigation by the committee for this issue.

Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), the Chair, stated in her letter that the Committee on Education and the Workforce is looking into Rutgers University's handling of antisemitism and its failure to safeguard Jewish students, echoing similar letters sent to Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Columbia University.

The letter outlines incidents of antisemitism that the committee claims the university did not properly address and asks for information dating back to 2021 regarding antisemitic activities, disciplinary measures taken, and communications between university officials on the subject.

The letter describes the pervasive climate of antisemitism contributed to by Rutgers senior administrators, faculty, staff, academic departments and centers, and student organizations.

Following a December hearing where the presidents of Harvard, Penn, and MIT hesitated when asked whether calls for the genocide of Jewish people would be considered harassment on campus, Republican lawmakers pledged to investigate schools.

The initial investigations focused on these three schools, with Harvard's inquiry recently escalating to a subpoena from Foxx.

Representatives from Columbia University will testify at an antisemitism hearing before the committee in April.
