Louis Walsh criticizes Celebrity Big Brother housemates – but promises to be 'less spiteful' in the future

Louis Walsh has ripped into his former Celebrity Big Brother housemates in a harsh interview following his exit from the show.

Oh, but he's pledged to be more pleasant in the future, if that's any consolation…

The former X Factor judge, 71, finished in fourth place on Friday night, while Ibiza Weekender icon David Potts, 30, emerged victorious as the first winner of CBB’s ITV reboot.

There's no denying that Louis was a controversial housemate from the get-go, dividing opinion with his spiteful remarks and by sharing plenty of showbiz gossip with celebrity resident Sharon Osbourne.

From Jedward to Simon Cowell, Louis certainly didn't hold back, with his unapologetically cutting jibes landing him a place in the final, as well as a mention in plenty of headlines on the outside.

Speaking out for the first time after the final, the Irish music manager shared what he really thinks about the stars he lived with for three weeks.

He told The Sun that his series was 'too woke' and admitted it got 'boring' since people were tip-toeing around one another.

'You know what really annoys me, though? All this kissing and hugging [on the show]. You don't even know each other! So fake! They all wanted to win,' he criticized.

‘That was the bottom line on the show. There was nothing controversial that happened really because everyone was too wary, too woke, everyone is too careful what they say and it all becomes bland and boring.’

On acquiring a reputation as the resident gossip, Louis said he made a conscious decision not to be like everyone else.

‘I was just sitting there like an observer and telling people what I thought of what was happening in there,’ he confessed.

‘I was only telling the truth. I wasn't trying to be catty, I was just reporting what I saw. I was brought up to say it like it is. Some of the housemates were just boring and bland and playing to the cameras.’

Halfway through his stint in the famous compound, Louis revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer during the pandemic, which nobody knew about.

He's now described it as 'a great reality check', having not even been aware of the disease being present until he went to hospital.

The type of cancer Louis was diagnosed with was macroglobulinemia, a rare type of blood cancer which is incurable. But, he is 'living with it and managing it'.

Reflecting on his candid discussion, Louis added that 'this whole experience', being Celebrity Big Brother, is 'going to change' him.

‘I'm going to try and be a better person,’ he declared.

‘I am going to try and be nicer. I am a bit catty. I always let people know what I think of them, that's just me.’

His confession also made a real difference outside the walls of the CBB house, as searches for his diseases shot up 18,200%, with the Blood Cancer UK charity publicly thanking him for raising awareness.

However, if being ‘nicer’ means keeping in touch with all his ex-housemates, maybe they shouldn’t get their hopes up.

Giving his opinion, Louis said Fern Britton – who came in fifth – is ‘ok’, even though he thought she ‘desperately wanted to win.’

He compared her to ‘wallpaper’ because ‘she doesn’t give you anything’ – ouch.

Regarding Strictly Come Dancing pro Nikita Kuzmin, Louis mentioned the runner-up ‘is very ambitious’ but believes he ‘will become a star’.

He also likes Levi Roots, calling him ‘a totally genuine man’ and exchanged numbers with Coronation Street’s Colson Smith, who came in third place.

When asked if he regrets anything he said during his time on Celebrity Big Brother, Louis admitted to being ‘a bit harsh’ towards Dannii Minogue.

As for Ronan Keating, he ‘doesn’t resent’ him and knows his criticisms will annoy the Boyzone star. Meanwhile, Louis said

his past disputes with Cheryl were ‘healthy’ and, um, wishes Sir Bob Geldof to ‘have a bath’ to ‘clean himself up’, so take that as you will. What’s next for the TV star? Well, Louis doesn’t know, but he hasn’t ruled out doing pantomime in the future, so if you thought the end of CBB marked the last time you’d see him in Showbizland, think again…

Louis didn't hold back in his first post-CBB interview.
