Many Americans believe that another world war will occur within the next five to ten years, according according to a new YouGov survey.
Approximately 61 percent of survey respondents believe that another world war is likely to happen within the next five to ten years. Around 18 percent are unsure about the likelihood of this happening in the same timeframe.
The survey also revealed that about 21 percent of Americans consider it unlikely for another world war to occur in the next five to ten years.
Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) said stated recently that former President Trump's remarks about NATO could be laying the groundwork for another world war. Moskowitz took issue with Trump's comments during a rally, where he indicated that he would not defend European countries in NATO if they failed to make timely payments to the security alliance.
“Donald Trump, with what he’s talking about dealing with Russia, if Russia would start invading Europe, that would start World War III, by the way,” Moskowitz said in an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“Donald Trump is talking about that, and setting the stage. You can be sure every single world leader, other than Vladimir Putin, saw that and said, ‘There is no way America can have him back as president’,” Moskowitz continued.
Other YouGov survey results showed that about 53 percent of Americans believe that Western nations and their allies would emerge victorious in a conflict with Russia and its allies, while only about 11 percent think that Russia and its allies would prevail over the West and its allies.
The YouGov survey, conducted from Feb. 1 to 7 and involving 1,000 participants, has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
