An individual who picks up trash helped a mother recover the ultrasound images of her oldest son that were taken along with her bag more than ten years ago.

Shiela Gibson has been cleaning up garbage from the sides of the roads in Gravesend, Kent, for just over three years.

When she found a bag during her good deed, she searched through its contents to see if there were any hints to its owner.

She found items belonging to Jean McNeilly, a 48-year-old who lived nearby, and whose bag was stolen from her home in 2012.

Among the usual items were some very precious ones: the pregnancy scan photos of Jean’s now 16-year-old son Ben.

Jean said: ‘I never thought I would see those photos again.

‘I hadn’t forgotten about them. You still remember the incident but I was just in disbelief that Sheila found them and they were still intact.

‘It never crossed my mind that they would reappear.’

A passionate litter picker has reunited a mother with the baby scan photos of her eldest son more than a decade after they went missing. Jean McNeilly was devastated when she had her handbag, with the ultrasound photos of her eldest son, stolen from her home in 2012. The 48-year-old says she thought she'd never see them again - until they were recently unearthed inside her old handbag just down the road from her home in Gravesend, Kent, by a local litter picker.

Shortly after, Sheila and Jean met and swapped the pictures, with Ben even posing for a photo with his early self.

The trash picker initially thought she had come across a workman’s bag, due to the way the leather had toughened over the past 12 years.

‘Then I noticed something shiny and opened it,’ she said.

‘I knew I had to find the woman who they belonged to, because they are obviously very special.’
