Legendary musician Jon Bon Jovi has made a sad admission after having surgery.

The Livin’ On A Prayer star, 62, is getting ready to release a new album, Forever, but might not be able to tour the record for health reasons.

Forever marks the musician’s 18th studio album between his band and solo efforts, already an incredible feat, and has spent most of his life making music and taking the tracks on tours across the world to adoring fans.

However, the rocker — whose son is preparing to marry Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown — is being forced to take it easy after major surgery two years ago for an ‘atrophied’ vocal cord.

While he’s been able to get through creating a new record, he’s admitted ‘I don’t know about a tour.’

‘It is my desire to do a tour next year, but I’m just still recovering from a major surgery,’ he told Boston’s Mix 104.1.

Jon was able to perform live at an event on February 2 this year, but considering tours can be years-long and require hours of singing each night, it may be too much of a risk.

‘I’m well on the road to recovery and was able to take my time and do a song a day when I made the record,’ he said, but declared his ‘need’ was to be able to perform for ‘two-and-a-half hours a night four nights a week for months on end’.

He described the new album to Ultimate Classic Rock magazine as something he had to ‘work through a lot of dark misery’ to achieve.

On Februrary 10, he told a Hulu panel at the Television Critics Association ahead of the release of his documentary Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi story, that he had been ‘a true vocalist’.

‘I’ve sung with Pavarotti. I know how to sing. I’ve studied the craft for 40 years. I’m not a stylist who just barks and howls. I know how to sing.’

The It’s My Life singer was devastated to think ‘God was taking away my ability’ when he sustained the injury, saying there was ‘no reason for any of this’.

Going into detail about his health issues, he continued: ‘One of my cords was literally atrophied.

‘[My craft was being taken from me,’ he said, before thanking a surgeon who was able to give him a ‘cutting-edge implant to build the cord back up’.

‘The rest of it I can deal with. I can write you a song. I can perform as well as anybody, but I need to get my tools back.’

His documentary will premiere on Hulu on April 26, with the synopsis reading: ‘Thank you, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story is a four-part, all access docuseries chronicling the epic past and uncertain future of one of the most recognizable bands in the world and its front-man, Jon Bon Jovi.’

Forever will come out on June 7 2024.
