Stacey Solomon fans felt like her BBC programme Sort Your Life Out went too far by showing a family’s ’emotional baggage.’

In the show, the former X Factor star, 34, and her team make changes to messy homes in the UK where homeowners choose which personal items they want to keep and leave behind.

However, on tonight’s episode, viewers were made uncomfortable when single mother Rachel became emotional after finding her ex-husband Darren’s proposal speech as Stacey, organizer Dilly, carpenter Rob and cleaner Iwan reorganized her home.

Rachel also became emotional as she talked about the painful breakdown of their marriage and Darren’s new partner in a moment that was described by X user Milo as ‘too intrusive.’

Darren later appeared on the 60-minute show to help Rachel and their two daughters Amelia, 15, and Madeline, 11, sort through their possessions, a reunion that was labeled as ‘awkward’ for Stacey.

‘Oh I’m glad I’m not Stacey, this must be awkward. #sortyourlifeout,’ Effy shared on X.

Sarah added: ‘Both parties more than willing to appear on tv show due to their marriage breakup? How is this even a thing? #sortyourlifeout Bloody hell.’

Agreeing with Sarah, Milo remarked: ‘Too much emotional baggage in this episode. Too intrusive. Not our place to be party to this. #SortYourLifeOut.’

Rachel first spoke of her divorce when Stacey remarked upon the clutter in her garage, which she said Darren had promised to make into a dance studio for the children.

However, as they split up and Darren moved out, his plans were never realized.

In a VT, Rachel explained the breakdown of their marriage: ‘We’d been married 10 or 11 years and I could tell that something was not quite right so I confronted him and he said, “I don’t love you anymore” and weeks later was in a relationship with somebody.

‘But they are still together and they’re getting married this year so it’s all worked out for the best.’

Later in the episode, Rachel struggled to fight back the tears when she was sorting through her belongings and they found items relating to her wedding.

‘It’s just hard,’ she said, wiping the tears away. ‘It’s not that I want him back anymore. It just makes me sad that it was wasted in a way.’

Stacey comforted Rachel and said that she hadn’t given herself enough justice for how she had handled the split.

Darren then appeared show as Rachel was still holding onto his possessions.

She had previously explained she had found it ‘too difficult’ to see him to return them but was now in a better headspace.

As Rachel, Darren and their children threw out items they no longer needed, Rob, Dilly and Iwan started renovating their home.

The family were left nearly speechless by the makeover, especially when it was revealed the garage had finally been converted into a dance studio.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to the BBC for comment.

Sort Your Life Out continues on BBC One and iPlayer on Tuesday (March 26) at 9pm.
