Trump criticizes Jimmy Kimmel again, saying 'This guy is even less smart than I thought'

Former President Trump once again insulted late-night host Jimmy Kimmel on Sunday, after Kimmel's response to the former president's criticism at the Oscars gained widespread attention on social media.

When questioned on Fox News's 'MediaBuzz' about his ongoing conflict with Kimmel, Trump remarked, 'Every night, Jimmy Kimmel attacks me, I suppose, and his ratings are terrible.'

He added, 'I hear he attacks me all the time, so I decided to retaliate because I believed he was a poor host.'

Trump and Kimmel's long-standing exchanges were brought up again last week when Kimmel reacted live on television to the former president's critique of his hosting abilities during the 96th th annual Academy Awards.

The ABC late-night TV host expressed his desire to share a 'review' with the audience and later revealed that Trump had written the so-called review on Truth Social less than an hour before Kimmel read it on live television.

'Has there ever been a worse host than Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars?' he read Trump's post to the audience. 'His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be.' Kimmel retaliated and mentioned he was 'surprised' to see Trump still awake, jokingly saying 'Isn't it past your jail time,' referring to the former president's various legal battles. Trump stated Sunday that he did not anticipate Kimmel reading his post at the awards, especially so close to the announcement of the Academy Award for Best Picture. The former president pointed out that some backstage personnel advised Kimmel not to read the post aloud, which

    Kimmel also confirmed

after the awards show. 'Now the big story is that they all begged him not to do it… 'don't do it.' He probably foolishly, you know he had to act in a short period of time, like minutes, right? He had minutes because he's on air. He sees this thing and he wants to go out there and he wants to, I guess confront me and so… he ends up reading my Truth,' Trump quipped. 'I said, 'this guy's even less intelligent than I thought.' The thing went viral, it's been all over the world now and all he had to do is keep his mouth shut.' Trump and Kimmel

    have publicly criticized

each other for years, with the TV host frequently making jokes about the former president, who responds on social media. The Hill contacted ABC for comment. Former President Trump on Sunday once again took aim at late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, whose response to the former president's criticism during the Oscars became popular on social media. When asked on Fox News's 'MediaBuzz' about his long-standing feud with Kimmel, Trump said, 'Now look, look, Jimmy Kimmel is every is…every night, he hits me…

The Hill reached out to ABC for comment.
